Why is Rosé pink?

Why is rosé pink? How can you have a White Pinot Noir?  The color of a wine comes from the juice picking up color from grape skins.  If you want to make an almost white wine from a red grape you press the grapes quickly after harvest and keep the juice from touching the skins as best you can.  This is how you make a white Pinot Noir.  If you want to make a rosé you allow the juice to remain in contact with the skins for a short amount of time.  Usually a few hours is about right.
